Hey there, lemonade vendor! It’s Ben here, and today I’ve got a real treat for y’all.
I recently sat down with Ken, a pro in the lemonade vending game, and he spilled the beans on some of his top tips.
If you’re looking to dive into the lemonade world or just up your game, you’re in the right place.
Let’s get to it!
Lemons: Size Matters
One of the first things we chatted about was the size of lemons.
Now, you might think a lemon’s a lemon, but Ken swears by the 140 count.
He tried the bigger 95 count ones, but the rind was too thick, and the juice yield?
Pretty much the same as the 140 count.
So, lesson learned: stick with the 140 count for the best bang for your buck.
Ice: It’s Not Just About Keeping Things Cool
When it comes to ice, Ken’s got some strong opinions. He recommends staying away from flake ice because it melts too quickly.
Instead, go for the cube ice, especially the ones with a hole in the middle.
They last longer and give your lemonade that perfect chill.
Simple Syrup: The Sweet Spot
Now, onto the sweet stuff.
Ken’s formula for simple syrup (remember, he’s a pro lemonade vendor)?
A 25-pound bag of sugar to three gallons of water. Boil it up, and you’ll end up with about five gallons of that sweet, sweet syrup.
And when serving?
Three long squirts with a pump should do the trick. But, as always, adjust to taste.
Equipment: Starting Simple
Ken’s been in the game for a while, and he’s seen it all.
He started with just an electric juicer, which, let me tell ya, gave him quite the hand cramp by the end of the day.
He then moved on to a manual press (which he still loves, by the way) and now uses the zero9, a top-of-the-line juicer I might’ve had a hand in producing. ๐
But the takeaway?
Start with what you can afford and let your business fund the upgrades.

Cheers! ๐๐ฅค and… watch Ken’s Video…
Hi Ben and Ken. I”m excited to say after watching multiple videos of yours on YouTube My wife and I along with our son we have decided to take the plunge into the lemonade business. We are planning to start in April, 2024. I wanted to get your opinion on a good Manual juicer to buy seeing we are on limited funds at the moment. Any and all pointers would be appreciated
Thanks Eric M
